Dreams Come True

Senior Dreams DO Come True!
These dreams came true for the following individuals. And with your continued support we can make sure many more come true, too.

2005 Dreams

Opal H.
Dream Granted: July 2005

Opal had her 100th birthday on July 19, 2005. On her actual birthday, Dreams for Seniors granted its first dream to Opal—three months of apartment rent and breakfast meals—free. Home Health Care Plus of Pekin, Illinois, was the corporate sponsor for fulfilling Opal’s dream. The company also sponsored a birthday party for Opal at which Dreams for Seniors Executive Director, Debbie Davison, made the dream presentation.

Ralph F.
Dream Granted: August 2005

Ralph F. was our first “honor” dream. We honored this decorated WWII veteran with a ride in a flight simulator and a reception in his honor. We enjoyed his stories and picture from that war torn era as much as he enjoyed sharing with us.

Mary Ann B.
Dream Granted: September 2005

Mary Ann B. needed help with her house cleaning after her second bout with cancer. She was too weak to vacuum and clean her floors. We knew just how to help her out. She received housekeeping services from Home Health Care Plus, Inc., our proud sponsor.

Betty L.
Dream Granted: October 2005

Betty L. loved trains, and Sharon knew it. What could she do for her friend? The answer: An overnight stay at Wildlife Prairie State Park’s caboose! Betty was touched to the point of tears that someone would think so much of her to do something so special just for her.

Roger J.
Dream Granted: October 2005

Roger worried that his home in Pekin would be condemned. With heart problems and end-stage renal failure, among other illnesses, he couldn’t fix the house’s many problems. And he didn’t have enough savings to hire anyone. That’s where Dreams for Seniors stepped in. Doerr Siding of East Peoria replaced the deteriorating siding on the house. Neighbors and other volunteers helped trim the hedges, pull weeds, mulch the garden and wash the windows and siding.

Doris L.
Dream Granted: November 2006

Doris L. neighbor thought she was pretty special. Special enough to make sure she wasn’t forgotten on her birthday. We arranged for many birthday cards to arrive on her special day.

Grace P.
Dream Granted: December 2005

Grace P. loves Bradley basketball and has loved it since the 1920s. Her very good friend wanted to arrange for Grace to meet her absolute favorite Bradley player and now coach of the Bradley Braves, Jim Les. Coach Les arranged for her to attend a Bradley home game and what a game it was! They won in overtime and Grace loved every minute.
